What is a semantic vocabulary and how does that fit with ISO, FIBO and other standards?

The BIAN semantic vocabulary defines the business terms used to describe the exchanged business information and key functions supported by the Service Domains. The same terms are often used to mean different things in different business contexts and different terms may be defined to mean the same thing in different vocabularies. As there is no single comprehensive business vocabulary for the banking industry the BIAN semantic vocabulary helps capture the definition of terms within context and also maintains the associations between different terms with similar meanings that may be defined in some established vocabularies that are in common use, such as ISO and the rapidly emerging OMG FIBO. The BIAN vocabulary capability has not been fully integrated with the repository and has limited content at this time – something that will be addressed in the next release cycle
